Buti Yoga is a combination of traditional yoga moves, tribal dance and plyometrics. All Buti formats incorporate spiral structure technique® used to activate our deep core muscles paired with intentional shaking & vibration to release trauma stored at the cellular level. Primal movement, cardio dance + conditioning are seamlessly woven throughout balanced yoga sequencing to give you an ALL-IN-ONE workout that helps you transform your BODY + SOUL. The Bonus? You'll burn 600-1000 calories per class doing it.
Buti Yoga Instructor I first tried yoga in the late nineties. At that time hard workouts and kickboxing felt balancing to my frenetic ways, and so I thought yoga was too chill. (Maybe the 5:30am candlelit, slow flow had something to do with that!) Shortly thereafter, my sister suggested I check out Bikram Yoga, and though I enjoyed the challenge, my practice was sporadic and infrequent until 2011. While faced with being a new parent, and overwhelmed by the feelings and sensations that came along, I knew deep inside that self care was needed. Inspired by my child and the desire to be a more authentic and caring person, a deeper love and appreciation for yoga took root. Since 2012 I have completed several yoga trainings for all ages, some of which include a focus on social justice, cultural competency, and trauma-sensitive practices. I teach hatha and vinyasa for adults; Buti Yoga - a liberating blend of vinyasa, dance, and strength work; as well as kids’ yoga, meditation, and mindfulness in elementary schools. These days I have a dedicated practice and a love of movement and creativity. These conversations with my mind and my body guide me to find and release trauma, hold myself and others with compassion, and become grounded and centered. Through yoga I have found a community of amazing human beings who I jokingly (but seriously) say "get my weird"! Most of all, I firmly believes everyone has the right to heal and feel joy. When not doing the parenting hustle, teaching, or being a wearer of many hats, you'll find me with my family; out on daily walks my beautiful dog, Ripley; shakin' it in dance class; perhaps in a coffee shop more often than I like to admit; and always, ALWAYS, curious about life, the universe, and the connections between us all.
